Welcome to the Willow and Sycamore class page, here are some important details you will need to know about our classes.
Your child will need to bring a named water bottle that will be taken home and cleaned daily. Should your child need them, spare clothes must be labelled and left in a bag on their peg. Please ensure that your child doesn’t bring any unnecessary items to school and that they wash their hands before leaving home.
If you would like your child to have milk this is requested on a Monday morning, at registration, and the children will have it every morning for the rest of the week. Milk is provided at a cost of 15p a day, paid via Scopay. Snacks are provided for all children in Reception, Years 1 and 2 so it is not necessary for children to bring in additional snacks. If you would like to provide a snack from home as an alternative, please ensure it is a healthy snack, in line with our policy as a healthy eating school.

Reading
The children in Year One and Two are continuing to read following the Little Wandle Scheme. Your child will bring home their reading practice book each Wednesday following their three reading practice sessions in school. These books then need to be returned on the Friday.
Both classes have a reading diary for parents to complete at home. Please see below for an example of how to complete this.
PE
P.E is a requirement of the National Curriculum and we expect all children to take part so please ensure they have a full PE Kit in school at all times. Children can leave their PE kits on their peg and we will send these home at the end of every half term for size checking and a wash.
PE days for Year One are Tuesday (Forest School) and Thursday (indoor PE)
PE days for Year Two are Wednesday (indoor PE) and Thursday (Forest School)
Forest School
This year, classes will have a Forest School session every week. The whole class will go outside together with their team of adults to enjoy these sessions.
For all Forest School sessions, your child needs suitable clothing. Children go out in all weathers, even rain so please be mindful of this when considering their clothing. On your child’s Forest School day, they can come to school in clothing appropriate for the outdoors, ensuring they have long sleeves and trousers to protect their arms and legs.

Homework
All children in Key Stage One are expected to read at least three times a week at home. If you can read more often with and to your child this would be wonderful. Please do record your reading in the reading diary sent home . Children can change their books as often as they choose so please encourage them to pick new books each morning after they have read at home or if they are not particularly enjoying their chosen book.
